Chattanooga fire investigators have arrested a local man on an arson charge.

Keith Carloss, 37, apprehended Monday, tried to burn a house at 3918 Yorktown Road on April 16, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Carloss had lived in the house with his now ex-girlfriend, Capt. Anthony Moore said in the release. They moved out some time ago, and the house had been vacant for months.

Carloss used candles and common combustibles, such as newspaper, Moore said. The candles started a couple of small fires, but they burned themselves out. The damage to the house was minimal, the news release stated.

Moore said investigators also are looking for Carloss' ex-girlfriend, whom they believe is out of town.

Carloss was taken to the county jail for booking, according to the news release.

Lt. Henry McElvain and Lt. Andrew Waters assisted with the investigation.
