University of Tennessee at Chattanooga left tackle Brandon Morgan, who started eight games as a true freshman last season, sat down with the Times Free Press to answer a few serious and not-so-serious questions. Here's the best of what he had to say:
1. What's the most memorable moment of your athletic career?
"Being able to start for the first time [for UTC, against Appalachian State]. It was a surprise. As we were packing our stuff on the bus, [former offensive line coach Geep Wade] came up to me and said, 'You're starting.' And I was like, 'OK.'"
2. Where do you see yourself or hope to be in 10 years?
I'd like to be working at an engineering firm or maybe TVA.
3. If you could have only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
"I'd probably have something not awesome [for me], but not terrible. I'll take fettucine alfredo. That would be great. I really like pasta."
4. What skill do you have that might surprise a lot of people?
"Some people know, but maybe not a lot outside of the team, that I play the clarinet."
5. What music, if any, do you listen to before a game?
"I'm not a person that gets super-hyped, so sometimes I listen to classical music. That keeps my mind at ease. I have put it on in the weight room before and some of the guys were like, 'I feel like Peter Pan right now!'"
6. What athlete do you admire most?
"I admire Michael Oher [the Baltimore Ravens tackle featured in the book 'The Blind Side']. His story is incredible and he can play football for millions of dollars."
7. If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with two teammates, who would they be and why?
"My goal is to get off that island, and I'll probably need good brains and good street brains. Those two people would probably be Jacob Huesman and Synjen Herren. I think we could make it."
