A school crossing guard was hit this morning near Hunter Middle School in Ooltewah but the extent of her injuries is not known, authorities said.
About 6:45 a.m., Elizabeth Drew was hit at her crossing post by a vehicle pulling from Teal Road onto Hunter Road, said Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.
She was taken to a local hospital, Atkinson said, but her condition is not yet known.
Drew was wearing all safety equipment required for crossing guards, Atkinson said.
Camille Godwin, the driver of the 2008 Honda that hit Drew, was given a citation for failure to exercise drivers due care.
