Chattanooga area firefighters were fighting multiple house fires in Hamilton County on Thursday night, dispatchers said.
The first fire started around 6:40 p.m. in a vacant two-story house in the 4500 block of Glenn Falls, Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said.
Firefighters arrived to find the house engulfed in flames and had a hard time controlling the fire because the house was on a hill that could only be accessed by a narrow, steep road.
It took an hour for firefighters to extinguish most of the blaze, Garner said, and they’re still working to put out hot spots.
The second fire was reported around 7:50 p.m. at 4167 Downing Lane in Collegedale.
No injuries have been reported in either fire, dispatchers said, but EMS is on standby.
