Worker falls from ladder at UTC library

A worker fell from a ladder at the construction site of the new UTC library today, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was conscious and stable after falling from a ladder on the fourth floor of the partially built structure, said Bruce Garner, spokesman for the Chattanooga Fire Department. He fell about 12 feet.

The construction crew at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga called the fire department because they were concerned about how to get the victim out of the structure, Garner said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, he said.
