Emily Boyd and Jesslyn Stockard tops in Region 7B-AAAA

Northwest Whitfield senior pitcher Emily Boyd and Heritage senior Jesslyn Stockard were named pitcher and player of the year, respectively, in a vote of Region 7B-AAAA coaches.

Boyd, headed to Ole Miss next year, led the Lady Bruins to the region tournament title and was 15-2 with a 0.89 ERA and 162 strikeouts and 50 hits allowed in 109 innings during the regular season. UTC commitment Stockard led the Generals to the region runner-up spot and a berth into this week's state tournament with a .500 average, five home runs, 11 doubles and 25 RBIs.

The other members of the team were Lauren Lawson, Kristin West, Savannah Goldsmith and Olivia Tamewitz of Heritage; Bayli Cruse, Ashley Conner, Colbie Thomas and Hannah Godfrey of Northwest; Haley Johnson and Ally Johnson of Ridgeland; Jerrica Littlejohn and Tori Hunter of LaFayette and Tavi Parris of Southeast Whitfield.
