A 65-year-old man is dead after two boats collided Sunday night at the Hiwassee boat ramp on Highway 58 in Meigs County, according to Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials.
Dale Rose of Georgetown, Tenn., was driving a bass-type boat when it collided with a 22-foot boat with four people onboard at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, said Ben Davis, a TWRA officer. Rose died at the scene, and no one else was injured, Davis said.
“It’s still an open investigation,” Davis said, “we are still gathering evidence.”
He said it’s not the first accident that has happened in the area, although they don’t have that many.
“We’ve had some fatality accidents in the Tennessee River, the Chickamauga Lake system,” he said.
