CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Actress Ashley Judd will speak for Tennessee's delegation during the roll call to renominate President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention tonight, a state party spokesman said.
Judd will give an approximately 90-second speech touching on the state's significance as the home of Andrew Jackson, the Smoky Mountains, the Grand Ole Opry and Jack Daniel's whiskey and as the state whose support secured women's right to vote, said Brandon Puttbrese of the Tennessee Democratic Party.
Puttbrese said Judd has been involved in crafting the speech. The roll call will take place around 11 p.m., after former President Bill Clinton speaks to the convention.
