Highway work under way and more news from the Chattanooga region

Highway work under way

Mowing crews from the Georgia Department of Transportation will be at work in the North Georgia region this week. Motorists are asked to watch for work crews and drive with caution.

Mowing will take place on state Routes 2, 3 and 146 in Catoosa County; state Routes 28 and 299 in Dade County; state Routes 53 and 156 and the 136 Connector in Gordon County; and on state Route 3 in Whitfield County.

Work is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Two shooting suspects caught

U.S. marshals have captured two men in Norfolk in connection with a fatal shooting at a Tennessee nightclub.

U.S. Marshal Bobby Mathieson in Alexandria said Charles Liphford and Tevin Lumpkin were arrested Thursday night.

Mathieson said Lumpkin was involved in an Aug. 25 confrontation at a nightclub in Paris, Tenn., that left Eric Kinley, 41, dead. Two others already have been arrested.

Lumpkin, 20, was charged with first-degree murder. Liphford, 32, was charged with a weapons violation.
