Higdon, Ala., man arrested at home for burglary

Deputies responded to a Jackson County residence Monday after a Higdon, Ala. man tried to burglarize the home, according to a news release.

The occupants heard the sound of a window breaking and responded with a firearm to find Arnold Neal Avans, 49, lying on the floor, tangled in the window shade.

The occupants detained Avans until deputies arrived.

Avans was arrested and charged with burglary second degree and public intoxication.

Avans was treated for minor cuts which were apparently sustained while breaking through the window.

Avans is being held at the Jackson County Jail. Bond has yet to be set.
