A middle-aged Atlanta woman died Saturday after she fell out of a raft on "Grumpy's" rapids on the Ocoee River in Polk County, according to a Polk County Sheriff's Office release.

The release states the woman was on a commercial rafting trip with a group of family and friends when they encountered rapids at the first drop down from their launching point.

Two women fell overboard; one was brought back in and the other was not. The woman in the water was thrown a rescue rope bag, documents state.

She reportedly took the rope but lost conciousness before she could reach the shore. Tennessee Highway Patrol officers, Polk County sheriff's deputies and Tennessee park rangers all responded to the incident.

The victim was pronounced dead around 11:35 a.m. Her identity was not released.
