Hixson residents walk for area schools

What: More than 450 people participated in the Stuffing Strut, a 5K run and fun walk held on Thanksgiving Day at Chester Frost Park.

Benefits: The event raised $10,000 to be distributed between the Soddy-Daisy Food Bank, Dallas Bay Firefighters Children’s Fund, and Hixson, Sale Creek, Loftis and Soddy middle schools.

New fundraiser boosts Kids on the Block

What: Corked and Scrooged, a new fundraiser, was held at DeBarge Vineyards and Winery. Each guest was asked to bring a wrapped gift valued at $25 in addition to the $25 ticket. The wrapped gifts were auctioned during the evening.The highest bidder unwrapped the gift, revealing what it was, then other guests had the opportunity to outbid the original high bidder — who gets scrooged.

Benefits: Chattanooga’s Kids on the Block.
