2 rescued off sinking shrimp boat in Mobile Bay

MOBILE, Ala. — Two people had to be rescued in the middle of Mobile Bay after a 40-foot shrimp boat began sinking.

The Coast Guard says it received a distress call from a shrimper called "Dreamer" after the vessel began taking on water Saturday morning.

Another fishing boat rescued the two people who were on board. Neither person was hurt, and authorities haven't released their identities.

The boat was about halfway underwater near the Middle Bay Lighthouse, which is southwest of Point Clear.
