The Athens Area Council for the Arts Auxiliary's annual celebration of the arts is scheduled Saturday, March 2, at The Arts Center in downtown Athens, Tenn.

The 29th annual Black Box Gala will include cameo appearances by selected community talents during the first hour as guests peruse items in the silent auction and enjoy a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres. Scheduled to perform during that time are Our Three Tenors and cast members of the recent Athens Community Theater production of "Always ... Patsy Cline."

Following the short performances is the live auction of larger items, ranging from artwork to trips to jewelry, followed by a cocktail buffet. At 9 p.m., party band The Beaters will take the stage. The dance floor will be open.

The event is scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight. Dressy attire is suggested.

Tickets are $75 per person. Proceeds are earmarked for school and community education in the arts.

Table reservations are available at The Arts Center, 320 N. White St., in Athens or by phone at 423-745-8781. For more information, visit
