A 14-year-old was struck by a vehicle after he darted into traffic on James Street in Rossville on Thursday evening.

Tanner Hildreth was walking on the north shoulder of James Street, and for unknown reasons, walked in front of a vehicle as it was passing, according to Georgia State Patrool Trooper Stephen Poteet.

Hildreth was hit by the car's front right headlight and thrown over the guardrail. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, Poteet said.

The vehicle's driver stopped and administered first aid to the teen after Hildreth was struck.

The driver will not be charged because the teen was the party at fault, Poteet said.
