Volkswagen’s Chattanooga-made Passat had its best June and six-month sales figures ever, officials said today.
June sales of the midsize sedan were 10,874, up about 6 percent from a year ago. For the first six months, 56,119 Passats were sold, up nearly 2 percent, the company reported today.
Jonathan Browning, Volkswagen Group of America’s chief executive, said there’s still room for growth in Passat sales.
“It’s still getting itself known in the marketplace,” he said during a conference call.
Overall, VW sales for June of 36,957 units were down 3.2 percent versus the prior year.
