DALTON, Ga. - A Whitfield County man is behind bars after police said he ran over and killed another man early Monday morning, according to a news release.

Frank Scott Bozzie, 47, of West Crawford Street, is being held at the Whitfield County Jail without bond on a murder charge, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Authorities said they believe Bozzie ran over 54-year-old Horace Richard Morgan.

Just after 6 a.m. Monday, Whitfield County 911 was notified of a disturbance at a McDonald's on East Walnut Avenue in Dalton police said. Before officers arrived, however, they were notified that the people involved had left the area.

Moments later, dispatchers received a report of a disturbance at 504 Gray St., only a couple of miles from the McDonald's.

Officers said they found the owner of the home had been run over by a 1995 GMC pickup truck in the front yard. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Police said the suspect, Bozzie, had run away but was found on Tibbs Bridge Road a short time later.

Bozzie was taken into custody without incident.

Police said their investigation revealed that Morgan had allowed a man and woman to stay overnight at his home. The two adults left for McDonald's while Morgan watched the woman's two small children.

While at the McDonald's, Bozzie, the woman's ex-boyfriend, showed up and caused the first disturbance.

The man and woman left and returned to Morgan's home. Bozzie drove up in his truck and Morgan ordered him off his property.

Investigators said they believe that Bozzie then intentionally ran over Morgan.
