A juvenile witness testified in court this morning that she saw an 18-year-old Chattanooga man shoot a Howard School sophomore at an abandoned house on Carr Street on March 5.
The witness said Courtney Birt was arguing with Lamunta Williams when he pulled a gun out of his pocket. The witness said she tried to take the gun out of his hand, but Birt fired several shots at Williams.
The juveniles were among witnesses who testified in Hamilton County General Sessions Court during a preliminary hearing for Birt before Judge Clarence Shattuck.
The courtroom is packed with spectators.
Birt, a documented Bounty Hunter Bloods gang member, faces a criminal homicide charge.
Shattuck sent the case to the grand jury. Birt will remain in Hamilton County jail with no bond set.
