Train rips an 18 wheeler in half in Chattanooga

A train has struck an 18-wheeler near Wauhatchie Pike at the base of Lookout Mountain.

The accident took place near the intersection of Highway 11 and Wauhatchie Pike this morning.

The big rig's trailer appears to be nearly torn in half, and was left in a crumpled heap alongside the railroad tracks, about 50 yards away from the point of the impact.

This is a developing story. Read more from our news partners at WRCB.
