The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. Start at the top on this. It seems that BO has a problem with those that lack a Y chromozome.

True, fairmon, BO's speech yesterday was pure lefty speak. "why would anyone want to deny" It's always like that. "why would anyone want to deny anyone health insurance". So, what happens now, millions now have to wait an entire year to sign for health care because they need to be punished because they didn't move on it when BO said to. Stupid artificial time frame just to push people around.

It's already against the law to discriminate. BO wants to punish for "pay secrecy"?

What a phony POTUS. Stupid posturing jug head.

Maybe he'll break his hand playing bball and wont' be able to sign any more executive orders. Or maybe MO will sit on his hand. That'll be sure to break it.

Caddy, yeah, he's transparent. Stunning how gullible so many in this nation are.

Right now, millions and millions will not be able to get insurance until Jan. 1st 2015 because they didn't hop to by March 31st. Why the artificial deadline. Why not have constant enrollment if you really care about everyone being covered asap. Why not apply that to everything that's vital to survival? How about grocery stores dictating that you must by your groceries by the 15th of the month. If you don't, then you'll have to wait until the 1st of the next month to buy groceries. All stores will be closed between the 15th of the month and the 1st of the next month. It's idiocy and totally artificial.

BO is a fraud and a bully. It's already on the books that companies can't discriminate. Just like illegal aliens, the law is already on the books to protect our borders. We just choose not to do it, and we bitch about reform, but it's really about kissing up to get votes. Both parties do it.

I can name a few GOOD reasons. It's good politics. Women love it. And...this is the main one... votes will surely come the way for the party that proposes income equality.

No one has to wait an entire year for health care I insurance. Health care insurance plans are still for sale.

If one failed to sign up, who would have qualified for subsidies, they will not be eligible for those subsidies until the next enrollment period, but...who's fault is that if they twiddled their thumbs or thumbed their noses at the Government and failed to sign up out of protest to a law that assists them with their health care costs?

"Stupid artificial time frame just to push people around."

Artificial? Clearly, you have not worked for one of the millions of employers that have the same rule. Medicare comes with a window every single year, in which any changes must be made to one's coverage or policies.

You're one of the many dodos who can find not an ounce of fault in themselves or the time to take self-responsibility for your own life or are totally incapable of meeting deadlines.

I guess you choose not to pay your bills until the services are cut off, then you do something about

Or is it that YOU do have your health care insurance, you do meet deadlines, and all this crap doesn't even pertain to your life at all, and you're just bitching to bitch about something?

Do you really think there is anyone who frequents this forum who is not keenly aware that you hate our President and that you blame him for everything up to an including one of your socks coming up missing from your laundry?

I’m going to get a lot of flak over this.

I have grown weary of the unending carping (it’s all mens fault!) of the equality movement. It has (at least from my perspective) over the decades been very successful at bullying men into a state of fear & guilt --- mostly guilt I think.

Feminism- back when it mattered- opened up a lot of doors, for my mom, my wife and a lot of other women. And that’s a good thing. What we are failing to notice is that feminism- in its present form - and I’m talking about modern feminist equality that comes from the west, is nothing more than repeating the same ‘facts’ that have been around for over 60 years; have morphed into a victimization mindset and ring hollow in today’s western world. Women are equal, but those that keep bellowing that they’re not, are diverting the eyes of the public from women in less developed countries (the Middle East for ex.) where significant issues truly exist. Their voices are stifled because of imbecilic religious dogma that suppresses any attempt to address those issues.

Did it ever occur to American women that if grousing doesn't work out once, twice, 5 times... the problem may not be men? God forbid you try to earn the respect you crave- like we do- it just has to be given to you -- because you are a woman.

Now I feel guilty again and am ready to accept the bullying.

Dude, I'm not a fan of ACA, but "what do you mean having a gun held to your head"? They either want the subsidies or not. No one is holding a gun to someone's head saying they have to take the subsidy. No one holds a gun to my head saying put the interest from your mortgage on my 1040. If I want the subsidy, I have to do it.

I'm going to step in it, for sure. But as a woman I can have my say: I graduated from a mostly male college, in an all male department major in which only two females graduated, and made my way without a female advisor or advocate.

I spent my career trying to convince young women to develop their intellect, that their male peers at that age would not necessarily appreciate it but later their peers would appreciate and respect it. I reminded young women that acting ditzy to attract boys would attract only those boys that were threatened by women who were smart. I fought against the culture to get girls to cover up their boobs, bellies and butts and win guys' attention using their brains, personality and interests.

I think that women are themselves to blame for any inequality we see today. The institutions no longer tolerate discrimination like I experienced. But the culture demands overt sexuality, and women are the only ones that can resist that, change that, replace that with standards that matter. There are some things that can be legislated, like better protection for women's health care, better benefits regarding maternity leave, and better support for victims of domestic violence. In those few areas where pay continues to differ, we can address the reasons. Changing the culture is our job.

Interesting perspective. Glad you chimed in.

I don’t totally agree with ”boys were (are) threatened by women who were smart.” Acting ditzy along with boobs, bellies and butts is, like it or not, a sexual (shallow as it is) come-on. Men are attracted to that for one reason only and generally don’t remain very long with a girl he may consider a trolup. Finding a life mate however combines many factors, and men are more than likely to desire someone that more closely matches their educational/intellectual level. Movie star looks are generally secondary...except for my wife. :-D

You are right, ”culture demands overt sexuality, and women are the only ones that can resist that.” While true, what exactly does ”changing the culture” mean? Change to what?

As I said earlier, us boys have been badgered into a state of fear & guilt. ‘Changing a culture’ has a certain underlying hostility about it that instills; Oh no, not again.

Changing the culture is difficult. Sex sells, and it diminishes women in several ways. If women refused to be a part of things that sexualizes them in this way it would be less common. Sorry, but I have never seen the need to use a scantily clad buxom women to sell tires. I don't see Kitchen Aid ads with naked Chipendale dancers.

Although I don't want to diminish the sexual liberation of women, the areas that it did not correct still make women out as objects. Only we as women can instill in ourselves and our daughters the self respect and dignity they need to stand up to that culture. Of course, our puritan origins still influence the sexual culture in this country, ironically. That still comes through in the double standards and squeamishness for honest dialogue.

Aren’t men also made out as objects; and have been to a certain extent even more so than women - since antiquity? Until the fall of the Roman Empire, objectification (for lack of a better word) was an integral part of society - for both sexes.

While not purposely devaluing the strides women have made, I find the modern feminist/equality movements use of pseudo puritanical double standards a tad disingenuous. If you ever question its playbook, you’re a chauvinist. Isn’t this exactly what the Jews do if you question Israel’s occupied territories (anti Semite) or black people if you…um say…questioned AL Sharpton or Jesse Jacksons extortion rackets (racist)?!

It just seems to me women want equality – until they don’t.

Why is it ONLY ME that has to take out the trash? How can you possibly remember every detail of an argument that took place 10 years ago, but when the red OIL light on the dashboard comes on you haven’t a clue? Meanwhile, under the hood of my pickup, the engine sounds like a person eating a bag of Frito's with their mouth open.

Oh what’s the use? Now I feel guilty again and I know I’m gonna get more bullying.
