District 9: Bankston, Bone vie in District 9

There is no race in Hamilton County's District 9 until after the primary. But then things will heat up.

In August, Republican Incumbent Chester Bankston, a retiree from the Hamilton County schools' maintenance department and a former owner of CB Electric, will face youthful opposition from Democrat and businesswoman Melinda Bone.

Bone of Harrison, also has no primary challenger. She owns Edible Arrangements and the Chicken-w-Bones restaurant. Both businesses are in Brainerd.

District 9 includes Harrison, Birchwood and portions of Ooltewah and Snow Hill.

Voters elected Bankston in 2010 after he served for four years on the Board of Education. He graduated from Birchwood High School.
