Police ID 2nd person killed in fiery crash on I-24 near Nashville

NASHVILLE - Police have tentatively identified the second truck driver involved in a fatal wreck that closed westbound lanes of Interstate 24 north of Nashville for several hours.

Media report that police were using dental records to confirm the identity of 29-year-old John Greer of Nashville.

Police say Greer was hauling wood pallets on Tuesday when he lost control of his semi-trailer, crossed the median and hit a FedEx truck driven by 52-year-old Michael Donley of Villa Grove, Illinois. The crash trapped both drivers and sparked a blaze that burned for hours because the pallets hit the FedEx truck's fuel tanks.

Westbound lanes of the interstate were closed around 5 a.m. Tuesday and didn't reopen until about 10 p.m.

Another driver who hit the FedEx truck from behind suffered non-critical injuries.
