Driver charged in wreck that killed passenger in Chattooga County

An 18-year-old girl is dead following an early morning single-vehicle wreck in Chattooga County, Ga.

At about 3 a.m. Wednesday, the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office responded to a wreck on Spring Creek Road, outside of Trion.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on the road when the driver, Gordon Kinsey, of Trion, lost control of the vehicle and went up an embankment before hitting a tree, said Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader.

Taylor Sipes, 18, was partially thrown from the vehicle and later died at Floyd Medical Center. A second passenger, Kody Jacome, suffered superficial injuries.

Kinsey has been charged with driving under the influence, vehicular homicide and several misdemeanor traffic violations.
