Georgia Southern beats Chattanooga Mocs, 62-55

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men saw their season come to a close in the Southern Conference quarterfinals after a 62-55 loss to Georgia Southern at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C.

The Mocs (18-14) led a 44-41 lead after back-to-back 3-pointers by Z. Mason with 8:28 to go, but the Eagles went on a spurt, with guards Tre Bussey and Jelani Hewitt making some huge shots down the stretch. Marvin Baynham gave Georgia Southern their first lead on a score inside with 4:20 left, and the Eagles, who shot 12-for-14 from the line in the second half, made enough shots to advance.

Mason, the team's lone senior, had 21 points and nine rebounds, while Casey Jones added 12 points and Gee McGhee had 12 rebounds.

Bussey had 17 points and Hewitt 12 for the Eagles (16-18), while Brian Holmes went 10-for-13 for his points.
