Police charge Pratville man in machete attack

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Authorities say a Prattville man faces two counts of attempted murder in a machete attack on his stepmother and half-brother

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Capt. George Beaudry tells the Montgomery Advertiser the attack happened around 6 a.m. Thursday at the victims' home in Montgomery.

Beaudry says 40-year-old James Michael Wilson is charged in the attack. Wilson also faces charges of burglary, robbery, attempting to elude a police officer and reckless driving. Beaudry declined to give a motive for the attack.

Beaudry says both victims were in stable condition Friday.

Wilson was being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on $241,000 bond. Beaudry says Wilson also has unrelated warrants pending from other law enforcement agencies.

Jail records showed Wilson didn't have an attorney.
