Johnson Audiology Welcomes Dr. Susan Porter

In a competitive market, Johnson Audiology thrives by separating themselves with education, customer service and technology. With a growing practice, Johnson Audiology has patiently waited for the right addition to their team.

Dr. Megan Johnson, owner and audiologist, states, "Knowing the ins and outs of any successful practice, hiring the best employees is fundamental, and we pursue the most talented audiologists."

For that reason, Johnson Audiology is thrilled to announce that audiologist Dr. Susan Porter has joined its respected team of audiologists.

Coming from the largest audiologist-owned private practice in Atlanta, Porter brings multifaceted hearing aid experience (including the Lyric extended wear hearing device), as well as knowledge of a successful privately run audiology practice.

"Patients are my priority and I enjoy the private practice setting because it allows more thorough attention for individual patients," Porter says.

In 2008, Porter received her doctorate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and she has experience in working in different medical settings: five years at an ear, nose and throat office in Knoxville, followed by the private practice in Atlanta. Porter is married with two daughters, and her husband is a physician at Erlanger Health System. Porter moved to Chattanooga in June and began working at Johnson Audiology in October. Since starting, she said she's been impressed with the quality of patient care from the entire staff at Johnson Audiology.

"I love being an audiologist. Improving patient's lives by helping them communicate with their family and friends is simply amazing. Working with other audiologists not only challenges my knowledge and skills, but allows me to continue to learn from my peers," says Dr. Porter.

"It's exciting to be in the midst of the ever-changing world of hearing aids," Porter adds. "Understanding the importance of advanced education in the profession of audiology and how his has improved patients' perception and increased overall satisfaction with hearing aids is remarkable."

Coworker and audiologist Dr. Courtney Guthrie states, "With the support and collaboration of my colleagues, challenging patients are empowering."

Several patients have come to Johnson Audiology after being discouraged by other professionals regarding their hearing loss, tinnitus, or hyperacusis (sensitivity to loud sounds). In a private-practice setting, Johnson's professionals continue to research and develop individual treatment plans and, when appropriate, refer to other medical professionals.

"We strongly believe that education counts, and our audiologists are encouraged to pursue limitless continuing education opportunities throughout the year," says Johnson. Johnson Audiology is building a diverse team of audiologists that will hopefully exceed patient's expectations.

Dr. Porter is taking new patients now at Johnson Audiology. To schedule an appointment with her or with Drs. Johnson, Guthrie, or Wade call 423-933-3623. The practice provides diagnostic hearing evaluations and consultations, hearing aids, hearing aid adjustments and repairs.
