New games, favorite stories at Discovery Weekend - Nov. 21-23

photo Mo Willems' "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" will be featured in storytime and an art activity during Discovery Weekend at Barnes & Noble.

The local Barnes & Noble store, 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd., has several activities planned during the chainwide kickoff to the holiday shopping season.

Called Discovery Weekend, the three-day event builds on the success of Discovery Friday, held last year on Black Friday. This year, the expanded program precedes Thanksgiving.

Events include a variety of promotions and in-store activities. Also, the B&N Café will be baking its latest creation, S'mores Cookies, and serving them up, while supplies last, for $1 each during special promotional hours (7:30 p.m. Friday; 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Customers are encouraged to get into the festivities by wearing their most outrageous holiday sweater to their local store. A photo of the attire can be posted on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #BNSweaterContest for the chance to win merchandise and gift cards.
