A flight from Dallas to Nashville caused a health scare at the Nashville International Airport last night after a passenger onboard was ill.

American Airlines flight 1676 arrived in Nashville at 11:29 p.m. Sunday.

The sick passenger was not diagnosed with Ebola.

Other passengers on the flight reported being detained for over an hour.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Department of Public Safety, in coordination with Metropolitan Nashville Office of Emergency Management and Metro Department of Public Health, "followed its standard operating procedures for communicable diseases," said airport spokeswoman Shannon Sumrall.

The ill passenger was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Then all of the remaining passengers were deplaned at the gate.

Emergency crews were called to Nashville International Airport overnight after someone on a flight from Dallas reported a medical issue.

Medical crews responded in protective gear to evaluate the patient and transport him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to Brian Todd, spokesman for the Metro Public Health Department. The Office of Emergency Management and the Tennessee Health Department were also involved.

The plane, which was a scheduled American Airlines flight from Dallas to Nashville, landed around 11:30 p.m., but passengers were kept on board until around 2:30 a.m.

Todd said the state confirmed that the patient had not been to Africa and had not had contact with anyone who was exposed to the Ebola virus.

"There is no concern that this individual has Ebola," Todd said. "They're not at risk."
