Tennessee Dance Festival is here this weekend - Oct 17-19

The Tennessee Association of Dance will present its 2014 Tennessee Dance Festival in Chattanooga this weekend, Oct. 17-19.

The annual event provides master classes and performances for dancers 12 and older. This year, the organization also will offer a one-day junior session of master classes to serve dancers ages 8-12. Students of ballet, ballroom, hip-hop, improv, jazz, modern, musical theater, tap and West African dance will take part.

Highlights of the weekend include a members showcase, student choreography project and a gala "showcasing the highest level of [dance] performance in Tennessee and surrounding region."

Classes are being held throughout the weekend at CCA, Chattanooga Ballet and Girls Preparatory School. The three public events take place at Center for Creative Arts, 1301 Dallas Road, and the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St.
