Volleyball Mocs win at Citadel

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team bounced back from Friday's lost at Furman and won 3-0 at The Citadel as Allie Davenport had 15 kills. The set scores were 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 in the Southern Conference match.

Nicole Sumida had 10 kills and Lauren Greenspoon had 23 assists and 11 digs for UTC (12-11, 5-3), while Anne Bachmann added 12 assists and Catherine Chason had 12 digs.

• At Raleigh, N.C., Covenant College got to 20 wins for the fourth season in a row with two USA South victories in Raleigh, N.C. -- 3-0 over William Peace (25-17, 25-17, 26-24) and 3-1 over North Carolina Wesleyan (25-15, 25-19, 24-26, 25-23).

Ginny Moore had 23 kills and 14 digs for Covenant (20-7, 9-2) in the latter match, when her twin Schuyler Moore had 14 kills, 28 assists, 12 digs and three aces. Schuyler had 18 assists against Peace, when her sister had nine kills and 11 digs, Cora Schroeder added eight kills and Jessica Seehorn served three aces. Christina Argaez had 14 digs and five aces against N.C. Wesleyan, and Chloe Carlson had 12 digs in each match.

• At Sewanee, Tenn., Diamond Stewart had 16 kills and 19 digs and Sara Jayne Sutton made 30 digs as Sewanee beat Birmingham-Southern 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9) in their Southern Athletic Association match. It was the Tigers' first-ever win over the Panthers (18-8, 8-2).

Also for Sewanee (6-15, 2-8), Jamie Sue Wilson had 12 kills and Rachel Schuman had 17 assists and 14 digs.

• At Lakeland, Fla., Lee University beat Eckerd 3-1 and lost 3-0 to Saint Leo on Saturday in the FSC/South Region Crossover.

Lauren Williams had 16 kills and Brooke Wilsman and Patty Orozco added 10 and nine while Sadie Johnson had 29 assists, Haley Foote had 17 assists and Stephanie Hernandez had 17 digs in the 25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 25-23 win for the Lady Flames (7-15). Catherine Conley had 12 kills and Wilsman and Williams had nine and eight against Saint Leo, when Foote had 24 assists and 10 digs and Hernandez had 18 digs.

• At Dalton, Ga., Dalton State lost 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-15) to Mobile in a Southern States Athletic Conference match. Alyne Bianchi had eight kills, Michala Askew had 23 assists and Karly Newman had 12 digs for DSC (10-8, 6-5).
