University of Tennessee at Chattanooga beat writer Gene Henley breaks down the Mocs' 34-3 win over East Tennessee State University.

SATURDAY'S STAR

When it comes to pressuring the quarterback, UTC senior edge rusher Jay Person has been on a rampage the past couple of games. Last week against Mercer, it was four tackles for loss, and he followed that up with a pair of sacks, six tackles and a forced fumble Saturday against the Buccaneers.

SATURDAY'S STAT

The Mocs admitted their defense had a good read on where ETSU quarterback William Riddle was throwing the football, and it showed as the former McCallie standout was just 8-of-25 for 46 yards, which equates to 5.8 yards per completion and 1.8 yards per attempt. Only one completion went for 10 yards or more.

TURNING POINT

In a sign of things to come, ETSU methodically moved the ball downfield on its first possession, only for a pitch from Riddle to Trey Foster to bounce off the running back's helmet and be recovered by UTC's Josh Battle.

THE BIG PLAY

There have been times when junior receiver Jamoi Mayes' hands have been questioned, but not this season. And confirmation of that came when Mayes hauled in a pass with one hand and raced for a 45-yard score on the Mocs' third drive.

WHAT IT MEANS

The Mocs did what they were supposed to do: dispose of an inferior opponent. Some would say they didn't "play with their food" and just took care of business. There are obviously things that need to be cleaned up, such as field-goal kicking and consistently moving the ball, but doing those things is a lot easier after a win, especially when it means a struggling opponent such as ETSU wasn't given a chance to sniff the upset.
