Lebron yapping

Hey, LeBron James is one of the all-timers.

He is no worse than the third-best basketball player to ever breathe.

LeBron grew up in the limelight — dude was on the cover of SI at the age of 18 — and now he has completely forgotten the rules of this game.

LeBron has talked forever about playing with his son.

That is cool. Somewhere Ken Griffey Sr. is smiling at that notion.

But Bronny James has had health issues, and he assuredly is not NBA ready.

Yes, nepotism is real, but has anyone heard from Bronny that he wants to play with his old man?

I have no idea about being the level of excellence of LeBron. But I know Bronny is averaging less than 6 points per game, and LeBron is now telling us to not talk about his son.

Pick a side, big fella, because if Bronny was averaging 22 per game and was soaring up draft boards, would it be OK to mention the narrative you started?

Is there a superstar athlete that became more unlikable through his career than LeBron?

Short pants and long shots

The combine is this week.

I love the draft. You know this.

So the underwear Olympics in Indy gets us rolling to the draft. I am embarrassed to admit how much I enjoy the combine.

Truly.

Heck, I was watching live when Chris Jones fell running the 40 and his junk was all over the place.

Good times.

Here are the things that I am looking for this week in Indy.

— Is Caleb Williams him? I'm not sure, because a) I love Jayden Daniels and b) Drake Maye is a DUDE.

— Which WR1 is going to be him? Yes, the easy choice is Marvin Harrison Jr., and if I did not mention him I would be worried his father would cap my arse. The dude from Washington could be him, too.

— War Bo Nix. Is he a first-rounder? Is he a future QB1 for an NFL team?

— Which overrated player will the Falcons fall in love with and/or which flawed QB with Atlanta overspend on?

Side answer to that last one: Considering how the past few years played out, the Falcons drafting Bo Nix and throwing him out there for failure before he leaves in free agency and wins a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh would be the full circle of Bo Nix torment. Also of note — I was friends with his daddy at AU back in the day. So there's that.

Extended side note

So I have been blessed to coach middle school sports since I was canned by ESPN Radio.

It was a trade I will forever value.

Monday night the middle school girls' basketball team had their season-ending banquet at Urban Air, and by all accounts it was a home run.

But for so many of us, the closing chapters of every athletic endeavor is worthy of pause.

Those feelings of Friday nights or the sounds of metal spikes on concrete will never come back.

In truth, can we ever get that back? Do we overvalue those memories? Is there anything you would not trade for one more Friday night?

Three claps if we're ready tonight.

This and that

— You guys are awesome and the support and well-wishes I have received from you folks has been awesome.

I actually like Jon Stewart. Do I think "The Daily Show" has been a catalyst for the downfall of modern media consumption? Yep. But I still think he is funny.

— So the U.S. women's team lost to Mexico 2-0. Feel like we need to mention the U.S. women's team had not allowed a goal to Mexico since 2010, which was when Cam Newton was HIM at Auburn. (Side question: Has there ever been a better $180K ever spent in sports? Discuss.)

— Jay Bilas is a bona fide dude. Here's his spot-on take on the whole storing the court debate.
