Chattanooga police investigating after man dies from gunshot wound


Authorities are investigating and searching for the shooter after a 56-year-old man died from a gunshot wound received inside a Chattanooga residence, according to a news release from the Police Department.

Chattanooga police responded to a 911 call of a person shot at the 2500 block of Vine Street at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was inside his residence when someone shot him and left the residence, the release said.

Officials, including the Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS, attempted CPR and other lifesaving measures before the man was transported to a hospital, where he later died, the release said.
