Authorities identify pilot after helicopter crashes into Tennessee River

WATERLOO, Ala. - Authorities have identified the pilot of a helicopter that crashed into the Tennessee River as a 55-year-old Texas man.

Cherokee Fire Chief Chuck Lansdell tells the TimesDaily that the body of Abraham Bronn of Spring, Texas, was recovered Tuesday afternoon after days of searching.

Lauderdale County Coroner William High tells Al.com that authorities searching by air spotted the body near Waterloo on Tuesday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the owner of the Hughes H369 notified authorities that it crashed with one person on board on April 6 near Florence.

The aircraft was owned by Haverfield Aviation of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, which works with utility companies. The TimesDaily reports that Bronn was a Haverfield pilot flying from Corinth, Mississippi, to Scottsboro, Alabama, to begin a new assignment.

The cause is under investigation.
