A Nashville man has been found guilty of fatally beating his girlfriend's 17-month-old daughter.

The Tennessean reports that a Davidson County jury on Thursday found 25-year-old Jacob Scott Hughes guilty on all four charges against him, including two counts of felony murder.

Prosecutors say that on July 8, 2012, Hughes was enraged at a friend and his girlfriend, Neena Costanza, prompting him to beat the infant Eloise Costanza so severely that she died the next day. Hughes said the girl died after falling from the bathtub.

Upon hearing the verdict, Hughes launched into an onslaught of expletives aimed at the judge, prosecutors and other court staffers.

Judge Mark Fishburn said the outburst would be taken into account at the Nov. 9 sentencing hearing. Hughes is facing a life sentence.
