A home on the 1300 block of W. 46h Street caught fire Saturday morning.

Five fire companies responded to the fire but were "obstructed by what appeared to be an extreme hoarding situation," according to a release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Firefighters made their way through the home as help from other fire companies arrived, according to the release. Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is officially undetermined and is under investigation, but an occupant said potatoes were cooking on the stove and started the fire, according the the release.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The estimated damage was approximately $40,000.
