Firefighters respond to two overnight fires

Chattanooga firefighters battled a residential fire and a commercial fire overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

The house fire alarm was received after 9 p.m. Thursday night. Firefighters responded to the house fire at 52 West 27th Street.

Light smoke was visible from the back of the house when firefighters arrived. They were told that one person was still inside and firefighters escorted the person out.

The fire was found in the kitchen and was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined.

The second fire was reported just after 3 a.m. at Clean Harbors Environmental at 318 Wauhatchie Pike.

Flames were visible at a disposal pit located near a building owned by Clean Harbors. The fire reportedly involved used paints, solvents and other waste products.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
