Tennessee's transportation commissioner was on hand today as the new interchange on APD 40 in south Cleveland was officially dedicated in honor of Cleveland Mayor Tom Rowland.

The 1.1 mile project lies between exit 20 on Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 11. It will provide access to a new industrial park for potential supplier businesses to serve Volkswagen, Wacker Polysilicon, and other local industries.

"We are very happy to be here today to celebrate the completion of this important interchange project with our state and local partners and the citizens of Cleveland," said Commissioner John Schroer. "The interchange will improve access to the area and support economic development and regional growth projections."

The Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation to name the interchange after Rowland, who has been mayor for 26 years.
