Dalton police have persons of interest in Monday shooting

Dalton police investigators say they know which two people were involved in the shooting of a man during a "drug deal gone bad."

According to a news release, officers found 18-year-old James M. Walton shot in the face and shoulder in the 400 block of Wrinkle Street around 5 p.m. Monday. Doctors treated Walton at Hamilton Medical Center before moving him to a Chattanooga hospital. Police say he is now in stable condition.

"The transaction involved marijuana," a spokesman said in the release, "but the exact circumstances of what happened are still being investigated."
