A 63-year-old Birchwood, Tenn., man was killed Monday when his truck crashed into a building west of Dayton, Tenn., in Rhea County.

Larry P. Knam died at the scene Monday after his 2008 Ford F-150 left the road in a curve and struck a building, Trooper Lt. David Roark states in his report. The crash happened about 12:15 p.m. Monday near the intersections of Morgan Creek Road, Old Highway 30 and Ogden Road, just off of State Route 30.

Knam, who was traveling east on Ogden Road when the crash happened, was not wearing a seatbelt which could have made a difference in the outcome, Roark states in his report.

Authorities found no evidence that Knam was attempting to avoid a collision with any other vehicles. Roark said THP was made aware that Knam had a history of medical conditions. Tests are being performed to see if alcohol or drugs were involved, according to the report.
