Chattanooga police responded to a call of a person shot on the 1300 block of Cypress Street earlier today.
Chattanooga police Sgt. Michael Joiner confirmed they found Charles Mayweather, 30, with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Joiner said the location where Mayweather was found was not the location where the shooting took place. Police are now working to determine the location of the crime scene.
A woman, who did not want to be identified for fear of retaliation, said she saw a man leaning on another man's shoulder as he was brought to a nearby house.
"I asked if he was OK and if he wanted me to call an ambulance, but he said no," the woman said. "I shouldn't have even asked. I live here, but I pay these people no mind because they'll always come back after you."
