A fire broke out Tuesday evening at a Captain D's restaurant on Oak Hill Road off Highway 58.

No injuries were reported, but the damages were estimated to be about $20,000, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

The 911 call came at about 5:25 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, they reported seeing heavy fire on the outside of the structure. The flames climbed up the exterior wall and into into the awning above.

The flames were extinguished in about 10 minutes, the news release states. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, most likely from a cigarette that was improperly discarded into the mulch and other landscaping plants located next to the building.

The restaurant will be closed briefly until the damage is repaired.
