Hamilton County Schools will open on a two-hour delay again on Tuesday, Dec. 11, because of a possibility of black ice on the roads in the morning. An update will be provided by 6:30 a.m. if conditions change and cause the district to close schools, according to a Hamilton County Schools news release.
School-age child care will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Because of possible icy road conditions, Catoosa County Transit routes will be delayed until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec.11. Transit's Wal-Mart Route will be canceled.
Walker County Government offices, including the Walker County Health Department and Walker County Landfill will open to the public on a 2-hour delay Tuesday, Dec. 11. Walker County Transit will be closed all day on Tuesday.
Whitfield County Schools will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 11, for students and staff due to potential black ice on the roads.
All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, due to potential dangerous road conditions.
Due to the possibility of residual hazardous road conditions early on Tuesday, Dec. 11, Public Health Departments in Gilmer, Fannin and Pickens Counties will delay opening by two hours.
Georgia government offices also will open two hours late, per Gov. Nathan Deal.
Due to the possibility of slick roads and black ice developing overnight on roadways, all City of Dalton offices will be delaying opening until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Dalton Public Works staff and public safety employees of the Dalton Police Department and Dalton Fire Department will be working through the night to keep Dalton's streets as clear and safe as possible.
The Riverpark Boat Ramp has been closed due to rising waters, the fishing piers remain open.
