The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga will join with the Internal Revenue Service, the city of Chattanooga and the SunTrust Foundation to kick off the league's annual tax preparation services.

Tax preparation help is available through the Volunteer Low Income Tax Assistance [VITA] program, according to a news release. The release said the cost of preparing a return and the process of filing is a burden for many filers. This year, people also will need information about how new changes in the federal income tax law will affect them.

The kickoff will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Northgate Mall near Kay Jewelers and the Old Navy entrance.
