Three Georgia residents on Tuesday raised Cherokee County, Ala., Sheriff Jeff Shaver's suspicions during lunchtime, leading to the discovery of a stolen vehicle, drugs and a weapon.

Shaver was at the Wendy's restaurant in the town of Centre when he "noticed three individuals acting very suspiciously inside Wendy's restaurant," Chief Investigator Josh Summerford said in a news release early Wednesday. "Upon further investigation, Sheriff Shaver and investigators discovered the three were in a stolen truck from Carroll County, Ga."

When the truck was stopped on U.S. Highway 411, authorities seized a firearm from the driver and located methamphetamine and marijuana inside the truck, Summerford said.

The driver, Steven A. Freeman, 39 of Cedartown, Ga., and two passengers, Lamon R. Jones, 21 of Rome, and Jennifer L. Mullins, 34 of Cedartown, were taken into custody, he said.

Freeman was charged with first-degree possession of stolen property, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, officials said.

Jones and Mullins were each booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Freeman also faces charges in Floyd and Carroll counties on existing warrants, officials said.
