Bodies of 2 teens pulled from Cherokee Lake in Tennessee

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say the bodies of two teenagers have been recovered from Cherokee Lake in Tennessee after it was reported that they were swimming and never resurfaced.

News outlets report that the Hamblen County Sheriff's Office identified the teenagers as 15-year-old Kaleigh Ramirez and 16-year-old Nelson Chilel-Ramirez.

County Sheriff Esco Jarnagin says family members and friends reported the boy and girl had been swimming on Tuesday when they went underwater and did not resurface. The sheriff's office says authorities later recovered their bodies.

Lt. David Cribley says neither one really knew how to swim and they were in the water wading as far out as they could stand.

Authorities say foul play is not suspected, but the coroner will determine the exact cause of death.
