A 58-year-old tractor stolen in September was recovered last week near Jacksonville, Ala., about 20 miles southeast of Gadsden, according to officials in Alabama.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a statement released this morning.

The sheriff said a 1960 International tractor was reported stolen from a home in the Mount Weisner community in a remote area in the south end of the county.

Calhoun County authorities and Alabama Game and Fish officer Jody Yancey worked with Cherokee County Investigator Brent Snead last Thursday to recover the tractor near the town of Jacksonville, Sheriff Shaver said.

Shaver said the tractor has been returned to its owner as the investigation continues to track down the thief or thieves.
