Scottsboro City Schools' after-school activities canceled because of severe weather threat

All after-school activities for Scottsboro City Schools have been canceled, including those at Camp Wildcat and all other games and practices, due to the potential for severe afternoon and evening weather.

Scottsboro City Schools Superintendent Jose Reyes Jr. announced the measure Sunday on recommendations from the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency. Reyes said all classes will remain on normal schedules and dismiss at regular times.

"[W]eather can always be unpredictable and as such, always make preparation for alternate arrangements in the event that an early dismissal becomes necessary," Reyes said in the statement. "I will monitor the weather continuously during the day on Monday and if there is any deviation to our current full day plan, I will inform you as soon as information becomes available."
