Traffic headed west on Interstate 24 from Interstate 75 will have to take the Moore Road exit to avoid a vehicle fire at the Germantown Road overpass that forced officials to close the westbound lanes of the interstate.
The fire was reported at 10:10 p.m. Sunday and the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway Traffic cameras showed flames shooting up and out of the vehicle until Chattanooga firefighters got the blaze under control.
Eastbound traffic is unaffected.
Officials expect to have the scene cleared by 1:12 a.m., according to TDOT.
