Hussman inducted into Hall of Fame
Walter E. Hussman Jr., president and CEO of WEHCO Media Inc., and publisher of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, is one of the 2012 inductees into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame at the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
Hussman's WEHCO Media owns the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock and nine other newspapers in Arkansas. He is a past president of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and serves on the board of trustees for the SNPA Foundation.
The Hall of Fame is designed to honor, preserve and perpetuate the names and outstanding accomplishments of business leaders who have brought lasting fame to Arkansas. The 2012 induction event is scheduled for Feb. 20.
Ringgold gift shop, bridal store open
The town of Ringgold continues to rebuild after the devastating April 27 tornados with the recent opening of two new businesses. Tillie Towne, located at 7679 Nashville Street in Ringgold, is a gift shop that specializes in products made in America, including gourmet chocolates, nostalgic candy, His Witness fragrances, scented candles, designer baby wear and home décor items. Cinderella's Closet is a bridal and evening wear consignment shop that also sells prom dresses and wedding accessories, and is located in the adjacent building to the Ringgold Wedding Chapel.
"I am excited to be here and be a part of the growth and rebuilding happening in Ringgold," said Jeannette Fox, vice president of the Ringgold Kiwanis Club and owner of Tillie Towne. "My desire is to help make this community a better place to live."
Tillie Towne is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Cinderella's Closet is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Company relocates to North Shore
Uptime, a local technology services company, has relocated from Soddy-Daisy to the Business Development Center on Chattanooga's North Shore. Mark Quering, the company owner who started Uptime in March, said the company's new home in Cherokee Boulevard's business incubator will allow it to continue to grow in an entrepreneurial environment.
Uptime focuses on providing information technology services, sales and consulting for small businesses as well as home technology users. Quering has been serving the IT needs of small businesses in Chattanooga for more than 15 years.
Scotchie gains certification
Jeff Scotchie, a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., in Chattanooga, has achieved the certified financial planner designation from the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards. Scotchie successfully completed the course work and a series of examinations in financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits and estate planning.
As a financial adviser with Scotchie & Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial, Scotchie focuses on helping his clients plan for their financial goals through a personal long-term financial planning relationship.
6 local attorneys among top lawyers
Five attorneys with the law firm of Leitner, Williams, Dooley and Napolitan, PLLC, were selected by their peers to be included in the Mid-South Super Lawyers magazine for 2011. Attorneys Paul R. Leitner, Thomas A. Williams, William E. Godbold III, James P. Catalano and J. Gregory Grisham were picked for the annual honor. Five other lawyers in the firm - M. Andrew Pippenger, Sean W. Martin, Tonya R. Willis, Barret S. Albritton and Brad J. Hearne - were selected as rising stars by Super Lawyers magazine.
